Can I hire someone to get me clients?

I do freelance PowerPoint design. I'm very good at the work, and pretty bad at marketing myself - particularly in any kind of sustained, ongoing effort. Can I pay someone to do this for me? How? Where do I find them? Who do I look for? How do I pay them?

Look for a creative/technology staffing agency. Essentially you would be hiring them to find clients for you as they would take a percentage of your pay. They can be good.

Most of the one's I've worked with are more geared towards visual design. But I suspect they might need dev work as well. The Creative Group, Mac Consulting, Filter, are a few. The staffing agencies are great to help fill in low/slow points in freelancing, and definitely help you network with clients and people in the industry. Not all are good though, make sure they are honest and upfront, as well as knowledgeable about the type of work you are freelancing in; as it will determine how well they pitch your work to projects/clients that is actually applicable to your skillset.

Where are you located? In NYC, the drill was to go to multiple temp agencies, take their software tests, and register with them. Then they call you for work. The two I used most were Staffmark and Wall Street Services, but that was a number a years ago. I would just google and try to hit the big ones.

I should have mentioned - I actually worked through these agencies for about 6 years. For me, it's not a good fit right now because they tend to pay significantly less than I charge and, in my experience, want you working exclusively on-site. The vast majority of my work right now is done remotely, and that's the kind of work I need more of. Thanks very much for the thought.

curious to why one would limit themselves to PowerPoint designs. Why not market yourself as a Graphic Designer, and also Letterhead, business card and other various design services? Also, make a monster.com profile, you'll have recruiters calling you daily if you get a decent portfolio up.

Because you can make a lot more money if you specialize in PowerPoint designs rather than being a general designer. Specialization also makes it easier to get word of mouth if everyone knows you as the guy that makes great PowerPoints presentations rather than that guy that does a lot of graphic design stuff.

A reasonable question. First, I agree with ajrdesign. Second, right now I have a few clients that come back to me month after month and I very much want to focus my business on this type of client as opposed to the one-offs.
